Public entrances (effective December 1, 2022)
Exterior doors indicated on the Public Entrances map are open to the general public between the hours of 6 AM and 7 PM on weekdays, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Select buildings, including the MIT Welcome Center, MIT Medical, the Stratton Student Center, and athletic facilities, have entrances open to the public during business hours stated on their department’s website. The Campus Building Exterior Door Schedules page includes general public entry hours for specific buildings.
Tim Ticket entrances for visitors
Invited guests/visitors who are issued a Tim Ticket by an MIT community member may create their visitor ID and use it at locked entrances between the hours of 6 AM and 7 PM, 7 days a week, including holidays. Buildings with hours specific to their operations are marked on the map; please check with the department you are visiting for their stated business hours. The Campus Building Exterior Door Schedules page includes Tim Ticket entry hours for specific buildings.
Requirements for individuals authorized to access campus

Affiliates, including vendors and suppliers authorized by a MIT department, lab or center (DLC) to study or work on campus | Consult host DLC about access requirements; some affiliates may need to complete the same requirements as MIT employees, students, and campus residents for entry to specific exterior and interior doors |
MIT Alumni | Infinite Connection (IC) account, create MIT mobile ID or optional physical Alumni ID card |

Building-specific exterior access and interior door access:
Access to certain buildings and interior doors at the Institute is managed via the Physical Security dashboard (Genetec) by designated individuals ("gatekeepers") within each DLC.
Special event access:
DLC leaders and building managers may contact physicalsecurity@mit.edu to request access to MIT space for an event outside of stated schedules.
